Cash

We advise that you get some cash prior to leaving the airport. There are ATMs there. The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc NOT the Euro. The cafeteria at CERN will accept either Euros OR Swiss francs but NOT credit cards. There is a bank on-site where you can exchange money if you wish, but it will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. There is also an ATM near the cafeteria. It is advisable to inform your bank prior to your trip that you will be using credit/debit cards in Europe. Some banks will freeze your account for “suspicious activity” if they are not informed.
